The article examines the difficulties of teaching English as a foreign language to non-linguists with a low level of English proficiency and outlines possible ways to overcome emerging problems. The authors describe the experience of using an integrated approach to solving organizational, psychological, pedagogical and methodological difficulties in teaching English at MIET (Russia, Moscow). It is argued that such measures as the allocation of students with A1 English proficiency in separate groups, the selection of modern textbooks and the use of information and communication technologies contribute to the intensification of the process of teaching a foreign language.
