Radar detection of non-uniformities of the ice cover of fresh water lakes

The authors consider the question of detection of non-uniformities in the ice cover of fresh and light-salted water basins with the use of passive and active radio-detection in the microwave range. The paper contains ground for detection of salt inclusions in the ice. In the process of detection of non-uniformities comparable to the wavelength, practical application can find an active radar method.
