Cervical cancer and papilloma viruses: etiopathogenetic aspects (review)

The review is devoted to the role of human papilloma viruses (HPV) in the cancer development. The emphasis has made on pathogenesis of cervical cancer, where etiotropic role of viruses is evident. The recent literature data on viral cancerogenesis caused by HPV, role of p53 protein and hormonal factors (estrogens) in cancerogenesis of HPV- infected epithelial cells of cervical cancer, immunologic control of HPV-induced cervical cancer have been presented.
