It is difficult to write about the first European philosophers because their works have not survived. There is only fragmentary evidence of later philosophers. The result is a great number of versions of early Greek philosophical doctrines, including Thales of Miletus. However, can the results of a study on the European philosophical genesis be true? Representing the personal reconstruction of the philosophy of Thales, the author tries to escape from the modernization of this teaching, using mainly the ancient philosophical, scientific, historical sources of the Milesian sage’s philosophy. The article deals with one aspect of the multifaceted works of Thales, namely: the philosophical cosmology that is being analyzed from the standpoint of theology, physics, and astronomy. The achievements of philosophical and cosmological teaching by Thales of Miletus opened the way for the development of European philosophy and science.
