Prevalence, medical-social aspects and prognosis of primary disability of infants-residents of large agricultural region due to nervous system diseases

The aim of the study was to determine prevalence, risk factors and prognosis of primary disability in infants due to diseases of nervous system in large agricultural region. the study included 480 children aged 0-3 years who were considered to be disable for the first time due to the diseases of nervous system during the period of 2001-2005. all children are residents of the altai region. the paper presents main tendencies in the dynamics of primary disability in infants due to the diseases of the nervous system in urban and rural populations. it describes structure and risk factors of disability in infants, gives characteristics of main types and degree of functional disorders, determines prognosis of disability.
