One of the key problems in the prevention of myocardial infarction thrombotic complications is the antiplatelet drugs effect, especially clopidogrel. The main influence to the platelets function have genetic features. Despite the large number of identified genetic markers, only the CYP2C19 gene polymorphism has the greatest evidence base. While a number of the CYP2C19 gene alleles prevalence and their functional features are well studied among the population, 17 alleles of the CYP2C19 gene are not well understood. This review examines the CYP2C19* 17 polymorphism prevalence in response to clopidogrel usage in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
