Disorders of depressive spectrum in late life: common problem in therapeutic and psychiatric practice

This paper considers questions of comorbidity of disorders if depressive spectrum in patients at elder and old age with untreatable chronic somatic pathology. We have presented results of study of affective pathology in 101 patients (19 male patients, 82 female patients, mean age 75,21±8,20 years), staying at specialized therapeutic department House of Nursing Care because of necessity of conducting the maintaining therapy, accomplishing the measures of care or executing the medical documents into geriatric home. Among examined persons 83,17 % of patients had cardio- and cerebrovascular diseases at high and very high risk of complications. Incidence rate of depressive disorders at geriatric somatic department has constituted 65,3 % of cases what requires administration of psychopharmacotherapy. We base a complex approach to palliative assistance rendering in the end of life for patients at late life needing medical and social care of full value, reduction of degree of severity of their suffering conditioned by severe somatic and borderline mental pathology with involvement of specialists of therapeutic and psychiatric profile.
