Distinguishing small enterprises from large business: problems of understanding

Бесплатный доступ

This article addresses the issue of using the concept of small entrepreneurship. It is widespread not only in the academic field but also in political language, regulatory texts, and is actively exploited by mass media and other information sources. The reason for its broad dissemination is one of its advantages: the ability to adapt the definition of small business to current objectives. The variability of the term “small entrepreneurship” (or “small business”) offers advantages for its use as a tool to achieve various goals. However, both the government and the scientific community set boundaries and define the differentiation of small entrepreneurship. Official definitions hold a special status as they require clear consensus in practice but can also change over time.
