This article is devoted to the study of Russian and Chinese phytonyms, which have rich cultural connotations. However, the same phytonym may have totally different national cultural connotations. In our study, various Russian and Chinese connotative phytonyms were divided into two groups: "partial equivalents of phytonyms" and "non-equivalents of phytonyms". Analysis of these phytonyms allows to deeply understand the attitude, perception and emotions of both peoples towards objective subjects, and also lay a solid foundation for cultural communication between the Russian and Chinese peoples.
