Development of phytoprobiotic biotechnology and evaluation of its quality

The effect of an aqueous extract of cypress in a nutrient medium on the growth of biomass and the number of cells of a consortium of bifidobacteria, including B. longum B379M, B. bifidum 83, B. adolescentis DSM 278 in a ratio of 30:30:40, of different species composition characteristic of the gastrointestinal tract of healthy adults, was studied. The conditions of cultivation of the consortium in a nutrient medium containing an extract of narrow-leaved cypress were selected. It was found that the optimization of the nutrient medium with cypress extract intensifies the growth of biomass, increases the number of viable bifidobacteria cells and their adhesive properties, and reduces the duration of cultivation by 6 hours in comparison with the control. Based on the obtained data, a phytoprobiotic biotechnology was developed based on the synergism of the properties of bifidobacteria and cypress extract. The phytoprobiotic is characterized by good organoleptic properties, a high number of viable bifidobacteria cells 1011 CFU/cm3, and contains dietary fiber.
