Development of scientific and methodological support for teaching the russian language in a polylingual region: basic principles and approaches

The article examines the development of a scientific and methodological framework for teaching the Russian language in a multilingual region. The aim of the study is to create a comprehensive model that takes into account the multilingual environment, teachers’ professional needs, and students’ language-related difficulties. The methodology includes the analysis of scholarly literature, diagnostics of students’ Russian-language proficiency, an audit of teachers’ professional competences, and work with focus groups. Key principles and the structure of the model comprising analytical, instructional, and practical components are identified. The approbation conducted in schools of Abkhazia and South Ossetia demonstrated positive dynamics in students’ speech development and the growth of teachers’ professional competence, confirming the model’s effectiveness.
