The development of artificial intelligence technologies is one of the priorities in the national projects of the Russian Federation. The relevance is due to the use of artificial intelligence systems and services in all areas of production and life. The process of mastering and further applying generative models should begin in the educational system, which requires an appropriate level of professional training for future teachers. The article substantiates the need for students of pedagogical training to study prompt engineering as a necessary tool for interacting with artificial intelligence technologies. Future teachers should be trained in high-quality work with prompts when using artificial intelligence technologies, which is recommended to be done in a separate discipline specially developed for this purpose. The conducted research analyzes the experience of the leading pedagogical universities of the Russian Federation in studying the basics of artificial intelligence and suggests a work program for the discipline "Prompt engineering in professional activity."
