Reasonable time for criminal proceedings -a condition for the effectiveness of criminal procedure

The article examines the problem of criminal proceedings within a reasonable time. The author, considering this principle of criminal procedure, notes that the requirements regarding the length of the criminal proceedings are fairly reflected in the law, as they are an essential condition for an effective criminal procedure. However these requirements are not quite effective in the form they are currently formulated in Art. 6.1 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.Based on the analysis of judicial acts and norms of the of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, the study draws conclusions on the need to improve criminal procedure legislation for the full implementation of this principle in criminal proceedings in Russia.
