Development of digital literacy as a component of functional literacy when teaching students a foreign language

The article represents a current study that reveals the importance of integrating digital technologies into the educational process to increase the effectiveness of teaching foreign languages. The author systematizes information about the impact of digital literacy on the level of students’ training in foreign languages, justifying the need to take into account not only language skills, but also the ability to effectively work with information in digital format. The article successfully argues that the development of digital culture is becoming an integral part of the overall process of developing functional literacy among students. Particular attention is paid to examples of the use of digital tools to enrich the language experience of students. The author emphasizes that modern technologies help improve communication skills, allow the creation of interactive tasks, and provide access to authentic materials in a foreign language, which, in turn, contributes to the development of students’ language competencies.
