The intensive pace of digitalization of education has contributed to the emergence of virtual mobility of students and a new stage in the development of the internationalization of higher education. The article discusses new ways of international online cooperation of universities on the example of Virtual exchanges and Collaborative international online learning. Attention is paid to the advantages and disadvantages of new learning formats and the results of a student opinion survey on peertopeer online learning are presented. In connection with the transition of university cooperation to the digital field and the emergence of a digital campus, there is a need to develop a new global virtual competence among students, which covers three main aspects, namely virtual selfefficacy, virtual media skills and virtual social skills. The authors thoroughly consider the competencies that are necessary for students to acquire knowledge and suc- cessful experience in the framework of virtual student mobility.
