Development of state policy of energy efficiency in the regions of the Russian Federation

Increasing energy efficiency is the quickest and least costly way of addressing economic and energy security. A considerable role in the process of energy conservation and increase of the energy efficiency of economy plays the state policy in this sphere. In the article the essence of the energy efficiency policy and its role in ensuring the competitiveness of the territories is revealed. The definition of the state policy in the sphere of energy saving and energy efficiency improvement is given, its content is disclosed. The key role of increasing energy efficiency in ensuring global competitiveness of the economy and sustainable economic growth of the territories is reflected in a special term “energy efficient economic development”.
