Development of the idea of patriotic education in domestic pedagogy

Based on the use of the axiological approach, the article reveals value-semantic guidelines in the development of the idea of patriotic education in Russian pedagogy. It is proved that the search for axiological foundations for building a national and cultural identity in the context of preserving and strengthening traditional Russian spiritual and moral values is relevant today. Six stages are identified in the development of the idea of patriotic education in Russian pedagogy: 1) IX-XVII centuries. - original soil; 2) state-Western (XVIII century); 3) national protective (XIX century - 1917); 4) state-ideological (1917-1991); 5) liberal-Western (1991 - February 2022); 6) national recovery (from February 2022). The criteria for periodization were: the position of the state in relation to patriotic education; value-semantic guidelines of patriotic education. It has been established that patriotism has always acted as a bond for Russian society, especially in difficult periods for the Russian state.
