Muyezersky District is located in the western part of the Republic of Karelia and borders Finland. In terms of area, it ranks second among the municipalities of the republic and has a rich natural, cultural, historical and event potential, which is currently little used in the tourism sector. The article is devoted to the analysis of the tourist potential of Muyezersky District. Excursion routes are offered, including the main accessible locations that are of interest to a modern traveler exploring new territories: automobile routes «Medvezhegorsk – Porosozero – Sukkozero – Vottovaara – Pizanets» and «Segezha – Ondozero – Tiksha – Muyezersky – Gafostrov». An alternative option of the railway route on the tourist train «Sortavala – Gimoly – Sukkozero» and the possibility of introducing active walking routes within the territory of the Vottovaara National Park are noted. The main places recommended for visiting are indicated within the presented routes. Recommendations are highlighted aimed at creating conditions conducive to the development of tourism in the Muyezersky District, including the development of transport infrastructure, the creation of tourism enterprises and the opening of new guest houses and hotels, the creation of a cartographic inventory of monuments with their subsequent inclusion in a single atlas of the cultural and natural heritage of the Republic of Karelia and the Russian Federation, the formation of the brand of the district and, on its basis, the development of proposals for expanding the network of routes in the district, having different focuses: environmental, active, cultural and educational, eventful, military and historical.
