The article deals with the development of students' compositional abilities within the framework of creating a collection of designer furniture. The analysis of educational programs is carried out, revealing the problems of a lack of practical tasks and an emphasis on technical aspects. The results of the study are recommendations on the revision of courses to form the necessary skills and increase the competitiveness of graduates in the market.
