Development of education in Mordovia in the second half of the XIX - beginning of the XX centuries: viewpoints evolution on this problem

The article is concerned with the evolution of viewpoints on education development in Mordovia in the second half of the XIX - beginning of the XX centuries commencing with the indicated period educators and finishing with contemporary researchers. A range of research problems of that time and the historians' methodological approaches have been analysed.
