Development of a direct test method for the adhesion strength of fiber to a matrix

The aim of the work was to develop and test the setup and methodology for conducting direct tests of the adhesion strength of polypropylene macrofiber to the matrix. The setup included a loading device and a measuring system. The developed device allows pulling out individual fibers from concrete and fiber-reinforced concrete samples and continuously recording the diagram of their slippage versus the applied load. The resulting diagram can be used to determine the adhesion strength of the fiber to the matrix. The data obtained can be used to analyze the behavior of fiber-reinforced concrete under load, in particular, during bending or axial tension.
