The article considers the possibilities of studying drawing in the conditions of development of professional self-identification of schoolchildren in grades 8-11. The review of psychological and pedagogical characteristics of high school students contributes to understanding the educational needs of students to create a motivational learning environment. The analysis of modern approaches to teaching drawing indicates new means of improving the effectiveness of learning and provides ideas for obtaining professional competencies in the process of implementation of drawing classes. A comprehensive study of the problem of formation of professional self-identification in drawing classes contributes to the conscious choice of profession by school students in the future.
