Development of rural tourism in the Republic of Mari El

Tourism is developing very rapidly in a global context. In Europe, rural tourism is one of the most popular types of tourism, which provides up to 30% of the profits of the tourist complex. In Russia, rural tourism is still at the beginning of its development. Its further development in our country should become a promising and popular direction in conditions of urbanization, a strained rhythm of life and pollution of the urban environment. The Republic of Mari El is a region with great potential for the development of rural tourism. The advantage of tourism in the Republic of Mari El is the favorable ecological situation, as well as the unique nature and culture. The level of development of rural tourism, which is still low, in the Republic of Mari El was studied. The basis of rural tourism in the Republic of Mari El remains tourist and recreational complexes, and rural guest houses are still used poorly. A survey by questionnaire was made to study the state of rural tourism in the Republic of Mari El. The author found that difficulties in its development in the Republic of Mari El are the undeveloped infrastructure and a weak advertising company for attracting tourists, at times the passivity of district administrations and investors in the development of tourism, and the low level of service to the local population. The author substantiates the importance of developing rural tourism in the Republic of Mari El, which will solve the main socio-economic problems of the village. Rural tourism can be considered as a factor in the development of rural areas, which will promote employment of the population and increase their incomes, replenish local budgets with additional revenues.
