The paper examines the possibilities of developing students' systemic thinking when studying the hierarchical analysis method. The relevance of obtaining such competencies in the modern world, which requires the ability to operate with large amounts of data, clearly structuring them, identifying relationships between elements and making verified decisions in certain conditions, is emphasized. An example of solving the problem, choosing the best option using this method by MS Excel is given.
