Evolving the long-term care system for senior citizens in the Republic of Buryatia

The technologies of social services for senior citizens are quite developed today. They are aimed at meeting various needs of people - in care, leisure activities, education, etc. At different stages of a certain age, these needs vary and depend primarily on the individual's state of health. The increase in the proportion of senior citizens in need of physical assistance has led to the need to develop and implement a long-term care system at state level. This system enables the senior's family and friends, who are mostly of working age, to continue their professional activities. The introduction and development phase of long-term care, as with virtually any social innovation, presents a number of difficulties and challenges due to socio-economic and psychological factors. They are not all intractable, but they do require additional resources of time to resolve. A regional feature of the implementation of the long-term care system in the Republic of Buryatia is the involvement of the non-governmental sector in the provision of social and medical services to the over-65 age population.
