History of student sports development in the Krasnoyarsk territory in the middle of the XX century

The problem and the goal. In 2019 the XXIX Winter Universiade will be held in the regional center of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. For that period, Krasnoyarsk will become an international capital of university sports and will welcome participants and guests from more than 50 countries from all over of the world. In our article we want to consider the history of formation and development of the university sports in the region that will host such a large international event, with a focus on the middle of the 20th century. This period is one of the most important in history of the student sport formation in the Soviet Union. One of the key events was the formation of the Voluntary Sports Society named «Burevestnik» (Petrel) (hereinafter - «Burevestnik” DSO), as self-directed social organization aimed at the development of student sports. Up to this point, the “Burevestnik” DSO under its wing united workers of state trade unions, book trade, consumer cooperatives, public food and foreign trade) [Linder, Andrianov, 2014]. During this period, qualitative changes in the structure of higher education management development of physical culture and sports among the studying youth were notable. A number of documents regulating activities of higher educational institutions in the field of physical education of students were signed [Pasmurov, 2011]. The purpose of the study is to conduct a historical analysis of the development of student sports in the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the middle of the XX century. The research methodology consists in the analysis of archival documents from the State Archives of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, comparison of data with the historical period of the mid-XX century. Results. In this article, on the basis of archival information, the development of student sports in the mid-twentieth century in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was analyzed. The system of physical education and sports in higher education institutions in the region was examined. Also, the sports being the most actively developed in the context of each educational institution were identified. Conclusion. In the middle of the XX century the Krasnoyarsk Territory Department of Physical Education was the main tool for the development of physical culture and mass sports in universities. The main direction of physical culture and sports work among students was based on military and professional training, which was conditioned by the historical period.
