Implementation of the federal project “Forest preservation” in consideration of the executive authorities of the Ural federal district in the area of forest relations

Among the tasks of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 204 “On the national goals and strategic objectives of the development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024”, the following task was announced: by the year 2024 it is necessary to ensure “preservation of biological diversity, including the expansion of areas of specially protected natural territories by 5 million hectares, the reintroduction of rare animal species, creation of infrastructure for ecological tourism in the national parks, as well as the preservation of forests, in particular on the basis of their reproduction on all areas of felled and dead forest plantations”. In the framework of the implementation of this Decree a national project “Ecology” was developed in 2018, the structure of which provided a federal project “Preservation of forests”. Regional projects “Preservation of forests” were developed at the level of the subjects of the Russian Federation. The authors of the publication analyzed the content of these regional projects in the Ural Federal District, the achievement of their targets, and recognized the main challenges related to the implementation of the projects.
