The Real Achievements of Digitalization of Ethnic Culture in the Republic of Dagestan

The article examines the achievements and successes in the digitalization of ethnic culture in Dagestan. Based on the generalization of real-world experience in the activities of museums, concert halls and libraries, the author identified its ethnic aspects in the general process of digitalization of spiritual and material culture, which developed as a separately recorded result of digitalization. The novelty and relevance of this study lies in the fact that, based on a review of documents, the author demonstrates a qualitatively new phase in the use of information technology in the cultural development of the Republic of Dagestan. In his opinion, the beginning of a new stage was laid by the national project “Culture”, aimed at preserving and popularizing the traditional values of multinational ethnic culture, taking into account modern trends in digitalization. The digital format activates consumers’ perception of culture, which ensures the real achievements of modern cultural policy. The article analyzes the activities of state cultural institutions in the process of digitalization of ethnic culture. The experience of the A. Tahoe-Godi National Museum as a leading center for the application of interactive technologies in museums is separately examined. The digitalization of republican libraries and concert halls is explored as a significant part of the region’s cultural transformation. Particular attention is paid to the multi-ethnic characteristics of the Republic of Dagestan’s digital cultural policy and the challenges of preserving ethnic heritage through new media and digital platforms. The novelty of the research is also reflected in the author’s forecasts about the prospects for the development of digital ethnic culture in the Republic of Dagestan.
