The ‘life hack’ speech genre: features of functioning

Statement of the problem. The article discusses the problem of functioning of the texts of the ‘life hack’ speech genre. The purpose of the article is to characterize the speech-genre features of ‘life hacking’ texts functioning in modern Internet discourse. Methodology (materials and methods). The empirical base of the study was made up of Russianlanguage texts of the ‘life hack’ speech genre, which are freely available on the Internet. The total number of people involved in the study amounted to 250 (taken mainly from the Clips section of the VKontakte social network using the continuous sampling method). The scientific base consists of the works of researchers developing the linguistic theory of genre studies and the methodology of describing speech genres. Research results. Classifications of life hacking texts have been developed: depending on the type of discourse, as well as depending on the list and connection options of codes involved in the formation of these texts. Thematic groups of ‘life hack’ texts are highlighted and semantic components (parameters) are defined.
