This review is devoted to analysis and systematization of CHAP (chemotherapy through arterial port) studies in hepatic metastases of colorectal cancer. CHAP procedure is considered to be linked with more complete reaction of unresectable or conditionally resectable hepatic metastases on chemotherapy and may increase metastases resectability. Besides, efficacy of CHAP and systemic chemotherapy combination after a hepatic resection associated with high risk of intrahepatic dissemination is shown. Benefits, anatomical and technical aspects of intraoperative catheterization of arteria hepatica propria are discussed. Possible CHAP complications and ways of their prevention, catheterization techniques in different variants of arterial anatomy are analyzed.
