The article is devoted to a number of aspects of understanding of a phenomenon of religion in the context of Niklas Luhmann's theory of «autopoietic» systems. The religion here is treated as a renewed «control over the border with the unknown», as a knowledge of «the secret». Three typological forms of religion are named: magic-mythological tradition, differentiation of “high/low tradition” and religiosity of a «differentiated society».
