The article considers the monograph published in 2017 by the prominent Polish researcher of Russian religious philosophy Teresa Obolevitch “Semen Frank. Strokes to the portrait of a philosopher”. It is noted that the author traces in detail the main milestones of the life and work of an outstanding religious philosopher of the 20th century S. L. Frank. Following the structure of the book, the article reflects the phased formation of the religious and philosophical worldview of Frank as a Christian thinker. It is shown that at the beginning of his creative career he was fond of the ideas of Marxism, then turned to neo-Kantianism and the philosophy of life, and finally, by the end of the first decade of the 20th century, after overcoming gnoseological methodology, his own concept of philosophical ontologism began to form. The emigrant period of the thinker’s life was highlighted, which includes the unique materials of the Bakhmetyev Archive of Columbia University of the USA presented in the monograph - little-known texts of Frank, as well as rare evidence of his contemporaries and interlocutors. Particular attention is paid to the reflection in the book of the inner spiritual experience of the thinker, which allowed T. Obolevitch to create a holistic picture of the personal and creative life of S. L. Frank, crowned with his deep confidence in the resurrection of Christ.
