Nowadays the institution of religion continues to exist, gradually changing, forming an image that meets requirements of a post-industrial society such as freedom, interest, and the increasing role of information and knowledge. The study shows the impossibility of the rapid transformation of traditional religions as a result of the complexity of religious components (religious consciousness, religious activity, religious relations and religious organizations). The reasons that slow down the evolutionary process of traditional religions in society are indicated. The author’s view on the problem of creating a “new look” by traditional religions is shown. The study gives examples of a religious institution interaction with society through social networks that promote unity, preservation of traditions, the transfer of cultural norms and values, the dissemination of information, and social work. Humanistic approaches that do not deny the importance of religion as a social component, but propose to emphasize the role of traditional religion in the world as a guardian of stability are defined.
