Religious studies in modern Russia. View from a nearby audience

This article puts forward a vision of what tasks can be solved by the modern sciences of religion. Particular attention is paid to the changes that have occurred in social reality, in particular, the change in the nature of religious communities as social institutions. The history of the formation of new typologies of religious organizations is viewed as evidence that religious studies necessarily react not only to new ideas, but also to new social phenomena.
