The article deals with the representation of the conceptual space “pain” in the commonly used language and medical terminology. The conceptual space “pain”, verbalized in the Russian commonly used language, is actualized by the colloquial words and folk paroemias, The scientific concept “pain” is considered as the most complex mental unit as the conceptual space, united around this scientific concept, includes the attributes, stored in the process of centuries-old historical development of medicine.
