The paper presented the outcomes of the comparative analysis of a lexeme «evil spirit» in English, Turkish and Russian languages. Academic novelty of this study is substantiated with a requirement to identify ethnic cultural features specific for the English or Turkish or Russian languages. Idioms have been taken for an object of research, those representing a lexeme «evil spirit» that serve for either picture of the world designed by people as an image of surrounding reality kept in mind of a representative of a particular ethnic group. The study made a valuable contribution to the applied research in cognitive linguistics.
