Representation of luxury signs in the semiotics of ballet art

The article is devoted to the analysis of luxury signs expressed in Russian and Western ballet art, the signs of luxury are expressed in the visual images of the characters. The article shows that the cultural and historical context in which ballet art develops has left its mark on the interpretation and functioning of luxury signs associated with the hedonistic lifestyle of representatives of the upper strata of society, forming a demand for prestigious consumption. The article analyzes the most significant Russian ballet productions, starting from the XVII XVIII century, when Russian ballet developed in the Baroque and classicism styles. Attitudes towards luxury in Soviet society and art are also analyzed. It is noted that at the end of the XX century, luxury became for some time an unofficial ideology of society, and glossy magazines became its marker signs. Glamour is seen as a simulacrum of luxury in modern mass art.
