Retrospective analysis of the coal market in the Russian Federation

Currently, Russia ranks second in terms of coal reserves, being one of the largest coal powers in the world. The greatest demand for the products of coal mining companies is represented by power generation, the metallurgical industry and the chemical industry. This article provides a retrospective analysis of the structure of the coal market in Russia for the period 2011-2016. The level of concentration in the market is analyzed, the main players and their position are identified, possible barriers to entering the market are described, the price behavior of participants and the form of vertical interaction are studied. A retrospective analysis makes it possible to judge the presence of oligopolistic trends in the industry under consideration.
