The results of treatment in patients with colon diverticular disease

The results of treatment of 179 patients with diverticular disease in age from 23 to 89 years were analayzed. Uncomplicated disease was observed in 47 patients (26.2%). Complicated forms were in 103 cases as diverticulitis (57,6%), and as bleeding - 29 cases (16.2%). The recurrence rate was in 19% (34 patients). Surgical treatment was performed in 21 patient with inflammatory complications with letal rate in 4.8%. The level of leukocytes, leukocyte index of intoxication, index of resistance of the organism and the concentration of total hydroxyproline in blood plasma were determineted to study the prognostic value of laboratory criteria in the assessment of the disease. Based on the data, we identified the group of patients from 60 to 75 years with unfavorable clinical course, characterized by high frequency of diverticulitis and recurrence of the disease.
