The article deals with the process of business negotiations of Chichikov with different landowners. The analysis of the business-communication is conducted from the perspective of the methodology of establishing contacts that means the gradual progress through five stages, each of them has specific principles and techniques of communication. There is introduced the dependence of the use of different tactics on the partners’ intentions and there are identified the reasons of the communicative success and misfortunes of Chichikov.
