The study focuses on the aspectual-temporal meanings that shape the perception of time and space in French and English. It is emphasized that the space of time is determined in language through the synthesis of the main philosophical paradigms of perception of this concept - aspectuality and temporality. The conclusion is that despite the existing quantitative and qualitative differences in the languages to be compared, correspondences can be drawn upon when studying them, which in turn will help create conditions for accelerating the process of learning a second foreign language. According to the analysis, the temporal correlation of actions in French and English allows three vectors to be identified: precedence, parallelism and posteriority. The aspectual-temporal meaning “completion / incompletion of an action” is characteristic of both languages under study. Furthermore, it is noted that many of the two languages' tenses are capable of “covering” all three strata - future, present and past. It is evident that the study provides an insight into how similar the grammatical tools for expressing aspectuality and temporality may be, and where points of divergence can be found between the two languages.
