The role of khai and chatkhan in the epic folk tales' Narration of the Khakas people's

Among the Khakas people khai is a national laryngeal manner of singing. Chatkhan is the 6-stained or the 7-strained main pizzicato musical instrument (a type of zither). Both these unique phenomena are symbols of the Khakas musical culture. Being master of khai's technology and technique of the playing the Chatkhan is necessary for a khaidzhi - the performer of the alyptykh nymakh (a heroic folk tale), the greatest genre of the Khakas folklore. For the first time the way of khaidzhi's formation is observed in the article. The practical experience of the folk tales' narration is generalized, that is the role of such significant musical-masterly components in it as khai and the chatkhan mellowing, accompanying it, and also sounding independently during the epic narration. Such important problems, which were not previously researched, as khai's specificity, the peculiarities of the chatkhan epic mellowing, the formation of folk tales narration's mastery, the classification of khaidzhi's types are looked through. Such fact is noted that having a perfect command of many masterly qualities of a singer, of a musician, of a reciter, the khaidzhi is actually becoming like a synthetic player. And the most important - how psychologically subtly he influences the audience, what atmosphere he creates in it at the moment of folk tales' narration - depends on the level of any performer's mastering these qualities. Observations and conclusions given in the article have a paramount significance for further research, revival and development in the modern conditions of the khaidzhi's traditional skill. Heightened interest for mastering of which is observed lately in Khakassia, especially among young people. Generally the materials of the article throw light on one of the important spheres of the Khakas people's spiritual culture - the epic folk tales' narration.
