This study examines the activities of heterogeneous social actors in the North Caucasus, taking into account the fact that there are obstacles to achieving a high quality of life in this region due to the subsidized nature of the economy, the worse financial situation of its inhabitants, poor protection of women, and other specific reasons. It is noted that the transformations of the 1990-2000-s in the social structure led to the emergence of social actors providing targeted assistance to those in need, raising and discussing the acute issues of gender discrimination and violence, which resulted in the formation of a number of effective methods and approaches to solving complex problems. Based on a wide range of sources and literature, we attempt to assess through the prism of the gender approach the degree of influence of the regions social structures in improving the quality of life in the region, as well as to trace how the role of social actors in the North Caucasus in this direction differs from the trends observed in other subjects and the federal center of Russia.
