In the article the urgency of social-psychological and military-educational problems associated with the various contradictions arising in the process of life and activity of the military collective, the condition of military discipline and law enforcement in units and their combat readiness depend on the solution of that problems. The article confirms the main role of the commander (chief) in the pedagogical prevention of conflicts. It describes the main objective and subjective causes and preconditions for the emergence of interpersonal conflicts, causes of conflict between military personnel and complex activities, which could help the Commander to prevent and solve the conflicts in the collective. The author examines the linking role of the military collective and the commander (chief) in the pedagogical prevention of conflicts. The article emphasizes the improvement of quality indicators of new recruits, of their social-psychological characteristics, the increase in military personnel wishing to perform the contract military service, due to the increase of prestige of military service in society. That’s why, it is emphasized that the condition of the effective activity of the commander is based on its social-psychological and pedagogical competence. For the development of the commander competence, including the competence in terms of the conflict science, the commander (chief) must constantly self-educate, expand and deepen existing knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve a high level of his professional skills.
