This article describes the role of the competence-based approach in the study of a foreign language by students of a technical university. The author of the article focuses much attention on what advantages a student receives when studying a foreign language at a technical university and how this will further affect his professional activity in general. In conclusion, the author emphasizes that it is the competence-based approach in higher education that is today one of the most significant vectors for the development of the education system.
