The Role of a University Teacher’s Personality in Improving the Quality of Education for Overseas Students (Based on the Example of Arab Students)

The relevance of the research topic is determined by the need to optimize the process of adaptation of overseas students in the educational environment of Russian universities. The aim of the study is to analyze the difficulties faced by Arab students in the Russian educational environment, as well as to identify the role of the university teacher’s personality in the process of overcoming difficulties and in becoming a future medical specialist. The author reveals that the fundamental difficulties are caused by differences in teaching methods and cultural norms governing relations between overseas students and Russian teachers. The work uses the results of a sociological survey conducted at Volgograd State Medical University. The data were analyzed using statistical methods, enabling the identification of specific patterns and preferences among respondents. The survey results reflect Arab students’ opinions of university faculty, confirming their high expectations and the importance of personal characteristics of the teacher. The author points out the need for special socio-cultural knowledge of a university teacher when communicating with overseas students.
