The article examines the role of municipal government bodies in promoting physical culture and sports among the population. It emphasizes the importance of civic initiatives and civil society institutions in creating conditions for sports participation and promoting a healthy lifestyle at the local level. Special attention is given to the impact of population activity, including social media, on improving the accessibility of sports programs and engaging citizens in the implementation of municipal projects. The paper discusses examples of successful initiatives carried out at the municipal level, such as the development of sports infrastructure, the organization of mass sports events, and the creation of spaces for physical activity in large cities. It also addresses issues such as inadequate funding for sports facilities and the lack of a systematic approach to program implementation, while proposing potential solutions aimed at improving the situation and increasing citizen involvement in physical activity.
