The role of museum pedagogy in educating the younger generation on the basis of theoretical and practical analysis of the contemporary social and cultural situation is shown. Pedagogical potential of the Program of educational component development in shaping the content of education directions in an educational organization is revealed. Program documents focused on educating school students who can express their social stand, are prepared for early career choice and actively participate in choosing their life strategies are made the basis. Cultural and educational potential of the museum in the context is a pedagogical tool that is not amply utilized in actual educational practices. The recommendations in developing the directions of museum pedagogy targeted to the educational standards are proposed.
