The role of law enforcement agencies in countering violent crimes committed with extremist motives

The features of the mechanism for countering violent extremism and the role of the internal affairs department in its implementation are considered. It is shown that this mechanism includes suppressing the spread of radical views and directly countering the commission of violent attacks caused by them. Specialized units of the Department of Internal Affairs are responsible for countering the spread of extremist views. This direction is being implemented largely in isolation. Countering violent extremism in the form of specific attacks is provided by territorial divisions of the Department of Internal Affairs. It is concluded that it is necessary to implement this direction of countering violent extremism, taking into account the social mechanisms that determine the functioning of extremist associations. Since the involvement of participants in such associations can be due to various reasons, their functioning is not always accompanied by the proliferation of radical views. The danger from violent extremism maybe vengreater.
