The paper gives recommendations which can help teachers to have an effective interaction between them and Generation Z students during the process of learning a foreign language. The author believes that there has recently been a growing misunderstanding and, in some cases, an opposition between teachers and students. It is explained by the fact that today the students of higher education institutions belong to Generation Z which differs significantly from other generations. It is stressed that the situation can have a negative impact on the educational process as a whole. The attempt is made to show that teachers' awareness of the difficulties can be vital for the solution of the problem. It is a critical task that in many settings requires a special analysis of the characteristics of Generation Z students and careful planning of all steps in the teaching process. The purpose of the study is to identify the main obstacles that teachers come across dealing with Z generation students and to explain why these problems arise. The article identifies and provides an interpretation of the main characteristics of the digital generation. It has been found that if teachers take these characteristics into account their students' language proficiency improves.
